Bouldering outdoors is just about the laziest type of climbing you can do. Boulderers wake up late and get to the crag after 9am. We measure approaches by how close they are to the car. We don’t like walking more than 15 minutes. Most of our time is spent laying on giant mattresses. I already put together a post on bouldering outdoor essentials. Now, it’s time for bouldering non-essentials. This is a list of stuff you really don’t need for bouldering, but they are so awesome, you’ll be glad you have them.

Jaybird Vista Review

I really hate hiking. Like really, really, really hate hiking. I do it because sometimes I get to see cool things, or I get a little stir crazy and gotta stretch out my legs. Or sometimes it’s just necessary to get to a rock I want to climb. I finally succumbed to hiking with jams this summer which has made walking just slightly more tolerable. Fall is here, which means it’s car camping season! It’s the season of more. More layers, more things in the car, and most importantly, more comfort. A pair of cozy camp shoes for crisp mornings and evenings is a must. I’ve been rocking the Teva Ember Moc shoes, now known as the Teva ReEmber Slip-Ons, for the last four and a half years. Here’s how they’ve fared.

Primus Tupike Stove Review

For the longest time, I never had my own real camp stove. I’d cook things over my little Snow Peak Litemax, praying that the wind wouldn’t blow the stove over. When Primus introduced the Tupike stove at Outdoor Retailer several years ago, I wanted one. Stoves could be aesthetic, and functional? I couldn’t believe it. After lugging the Primus Tupike Stove around for the last few years, here’s how it’s been faring.
