What I like
The colors. Wild Rye always has awesome colors and patterns. This green is no exception.
So comfy. The Wild Rye Emmett Overalls are so comfy. They move very easily. They’re great if you’re looking for a technical pair of overalls that also happen to be extremely cute. I’ve worn them lounging and wandering around a city. They are fantastic for bike commuting and light hikes. And if you work for a cool company, they are nice work clothes. The fabric is quite stretchy which allows you to layer warmer clothing beneath if necessary.
Pockets. There are so many! For your phone, for your wallet, for whatever knick knacks, for your tools.
It’s breathable. Since publishing the original review, I’ve logged a lot more time in the Emmett Overalls. I originally was not a fan for casual use, but for gardening and yard work, these overalls perform exceptionally. If you live in a hot climate, like Sacramento, these provide the protection that you need from poke-y plants (looking at you, squash) and dirt, without making you overheat.

What I don’t like
The fabric. The fabric is very cozy and stretchy, but it is very unforgiving. It shows every little bump or wrinkle underneath it. It’s the same fabric as the Elorie overalls, so it’s something I dislike on those too. They also don’t hold cuffs very well, and as a shortie, I need to roll up my pants sometimes to not look like a little stump.
The cut. Truthfully, I prefer the Elorie overalls more! I feel like I’m swimming in the bottoms. They are less flattering on me, personally. This is absolutely, 100% personal preference, so take that as you will. If you like something slightly more fitted, you’ll want the now-discontinued Elorie instead.

The Verdict
The Wild Rye Emmett Overalls are for you if you’re a fan of overalls and you like them baggier. If you’re looking for a pair that are both functional and cute, these are for you. They went from being relegated in the back of my closet to being something I reach for often for gardening and yard work. Since originally publishing this review, I thought I would not buy these for myself, but I’ve since changed my tune. They’re not for me as a casual garment, but I would buy them again and again for getting things done. I was sent these for review, but I purchased the Elorie on my own. They are close enough where you don’t need to own both.
