Women’s Splitboards and Gear: The Complete List

Snowsports are an outdoor activity that’s about as bro-y as it gets. The outdoor market caters to men, and it’s super obvious when you try to shop for splitboard gear. As women, we sometimes need gear that fits our bodies better. Splitboards and all the associated hardware are no different. Because the offering for women is so small, I scoured the internet for as much women’s splitboard gear as I could find. Here’s a complete list of women’s splitboards and other necessary gear to get out in the backcountry.

Please note, this is not a list of recommendations. This is simply everything that exists out there for women. I’ll be uploading my splitboard kit soon!

Women’s Splitboards

Do you need a women’s-specific splitboard? Maybe! Women’s splitboards tend to have more flex (less stiff), and they are narrower since our feet tend to be smaller. Women’s splitboards come in shorter offerings.

Women’s Splitboarding Skins

It’s really hard to find short splitboard skins for women’s splitboards. Unfortunately, there are rarely pre-cut skins for women’s boards, so you will need to look for trim-to-fit (or universal or cut-to-fit) skins. The shortest skin size is around 145cm-147cm, which is still longer than the shortest board. Fear not, you can buy longer splitboard skins and cut them down to fit your board. You can do it yourself (I didn’t.) Or any ski or board shop should be able to cut your skins down for you, but give them a call and check before heading over. (Sacramento folks, Land Park Ski and Sports will trim your skins for $15.)

Women’s Splitboarding Poles

When it comes to women’s splitboarding poles, look for poles that come in shorter lengths. Unlike skiers, splitboarders put their poles away to go downhill. Look for collapsible poles. They’ll pack down into a smaller size when you are boarding. Spending more money on carbon will save weight.
