Tribe Provisions Adventure Hammock Review

I’m going to let you in a little secret. Lately I’ve been pretty lazy, and I’m learning that it’s okay. It’s okay to not have an epic peak to bag. It’s okay to not put in tens of miles in one weekend. It’s okay to take it easy, find a beautiful spot and just chill.

That’s what I did for the 4th of July and when I took my brother out for his first time in the backcountry. Sometimes I need it. And on those trips, I tend to load up my pack with little luxuries like the Tribe Provisions Adventure Hammock. I mean, a couple extra ounces or even a few extra pounds doesn’t hurt for those short trips, right?

The Tribe Provisions Adventure Hammock is a great way to dip your toes into the world of hammocking. It’s made of 210T nylon, designed to hold up to 400 pounds with triple stitched seams. Two 10-foot fray-resistant (polypropylene) lashing cables and steel carabiners are included to hang your hammock.

A stuff sack with glow-in-the-dark logo is attached to the hammock for easy storage. The dimensions are approximately 10’ x 4’. The whole setup weighs approximately 1.34 pounds.

I have no experiences whatsoever with hammocks, so this was pretty neat to try. I had to read the instructions several times, and have someone else explain them to me before I understood exactly how to set it up. If you don’t know how to tie any knots whatsoever, you’re going to have a real hard time setting this up.

The hammock comes with two loose cords; it’s up to you to set it up and tie knots for hanging. For me, this meant I just tied a few knots in beforehand and then added more when it came time to hang the hammock in the backcountry. Not quite the best strategy. The carabiners were difficult to clip and unclip, and I have small hands.

Once everything was up and running, I found my first hammock experience to be very enjoyable. Set up of the Tribe Provisions Adventure Hammock was a bit of a fuss, but relaxing in the backcountry put me at ease.

At $30, this won’t make a dent in your wallet if you want to try your hand at hanging. Buy the Tribe Provisions Adventure Hammock through their website or Amazon.

This was sent to me for review. Pictured here backpacking Meiss Lake in Mokelumne Wilderness. The Last Adventurer also took the hammock out for a spin.

I use a hammock for my shelter when I’m below the treeline.

Here is a way easier system to use (also the straps are better for the tree than ropes).

Seriously can get a perfect hang in under a minute without a single knot.
