Norrøna Bitihorn Lightweight Pants

Norrøna Norrona Bitihorn Lightweight Pants Review Best Hiking Pants

When I flew into Oslo for my Norway trip, one of the first things I did was pop into the Norrøna flagship store in Sentrum. I couldn’t pass up a trip to see Norrøna in real life! They’re only available on Backcountry in the United States… I hope that changes soon, because they have some pretty cool (and colorful!) stuff. I told myself I would only try things on and wait to buy stuff back home because of the exchange rate. But then I saw the Norrøna Bitihorn Pants in Hot Chili aka bright, obnoxious orange, and I had to have it. Backcountry definitely did not have this color in stock.

These are so great. They’ve replaced my purple REI Sahara pants as new favorite pants for everything. Hiking, backpacking, climbing, you name it! Made of woven polyamide 130 and flex1 fabric, these are lightweight, windproof, breathable, durable, and water resistant. Stretch panels in the knees and derriere mean these are not restrictive at all! High steps, crazy heel hooks, the Bitihorn pants won’t hold you back. They even come with leg zips so you can ventilate when you are heating up. A custom-fit waist system means you can loosen up after eating too much post-hike dessert and you can tighten the fit after starving in the backcountry for days. The Bitihorn pants have pockets galore: two butt pockets, one thigh pocket, and two zip pockets on the hips. Candy wrappers, phone, lip balm, what have you, there’s a spot for it. The ankles have zips so you can adjust the amount of taper in your pants accordingly, which is so cool. Lastly, there is a clasp to attach the end of the pant leg to your shoe lace to prevent debris from getting in.

The Norrøna Bitihorn Pants are so lightweight and fun. They get ridiculously dirty when I’m out in the backcountry, but after a good washing, they look as good as new. They’ve survived multi-day backpacking trips, crazy peak bagging adventures, and first ascents in Emigrant Wilderness. My only gripe? I hate the placement of the fly. When a girl’s gotta go, a girl’s gotta go, and sometimes it means it has to be really, really fast because oh god, someone is right around the corner. I’ve found that more often than not, the zipper pull gets in the way of me buttoning up my pants which occasionally leads to a minor panic attack before realizing my buttons are not actually broken. I’ve never had this problem on any pants before, so it’s a little odd. Either way though, it’s not a deal breaker for me. These pants are awesome.

Buy through Norrøna, Backcountry or Amazon for $139. Also available for men.
